Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation Justice for all. It's a simple notion. All people who need to access our cherished system of laws should be able to. Even if they can't afford a lawyer. Legal aid societies and pro bono lawyers fulfill this societal obligation. Without cooperation from the legal community, seeking protection from an abusive husband would be arduous and overwhelming for thousands of women. Most poverty-stricken parents could not skillfully navigate their way through the bureaucracy and the red tape required to provide their children with the education or benefits they deserve. Our Mission The Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation is committed to equal access to justice and will work to assure that resources, programs and services exist statewide to serve the unmet civil legal needs of Ohio's poor. Our Board Among the 35 OLAF board members are appointees from the Governor, the Attorney General, the Chief Justice, the State Treasurer, the State Public Defender, the Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate President. Other bar leaders and citizens concerned about equal justice serve as trustees and are appointed by the OLAF board to three-year terms.
