Program Assessments
The Foundation, in partnership with Ohio's legal aid societies and with support from the Supreme Court of Ohio, works to strengthen Ohio's legal aid delivery system. This partnership has resulted in many successes.
Single-county legal aid societies have merged into six geographically-based regional service providers. These organizations are each now of such a size that they have the capacity for:
specialization in poverty law;
the ability to hire full-time dedicated resource development staff;
the capacity to employ and manage sophisticated intake, brief advice and referral systems;
employ litigation directors to oversee the quality and quantity of legal work; and,
employ dedicated technology professionals to support the sophisticated use of technology.
In supporting these successes, the Foundation remains committed to program assessment.
Ohio is one of only five states with a peer review site assessment process for legal aid providers. This process helps to shape the delivery system as well as ensure that high quality, efficient, and effective legal services are being provided.
